SUNGAI BULOH, April 26 — The state government has contributed RM50,000 for the construction of a volunteers’ fire station in Saujana Utama.

State executive councillor for young generation development and model individuals Mohd Khairuddin Othman said it is a necessity for the Volunteer Firefighters Team (PBS) seeing as how the location has a high population density.

“Our target is to collect RM1 million within two years and we hope representatives, residents’ association and agencies can collectively help to bring about this centre,” he said during the Saujana Utama Village Community Management Council (MPKK) Iftar ceremony early today.

Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the location of the Saujana Utama PBS helps with the department’s response time in any given case.

“Our response to each case is under 10 minutes and as we have no fire station nearby the PBS is of great assistance to us.

During the event, Mohd Khairuddin Othman also contributed RM20,000 to 38 Residents’ Representative Councils (MPP) or RM500 to each MPP.
