SHAH ALAM, April 26 — A total of four apartments in the state have been selected under a pilot project for Mobilisasi Ekonomi Komuniti Bandar Selangor (Mekar) programme which aims to help low-income groups.

The apartments are Pangsapuri Kos Rendah Taman Dato’ Hormat, Sijangkang; Pangsapuri Kos Rendah Taman Raja Uda, Pandamaran; Pangsapuri Rimau Indah, Kota Kemuning and Perbadanan Pengurusan Anggerik 26, Batu 3.

State executive councillor for housing Rodziah Ismail said under the programme, a kiosk or mini-market was built to sell various necessities at cheap prices to ease the economic burden of the residents.

“At the same time, residents can sell their goods there. They will also receive guidance to ensure their product continues to grow.

“This is the first time such an initiative was introduced to help the apartments community. Not only can it develop the economy but also strengthen relationships between the residents,” she said when officiating Mekar at Pangsapuri Rimau Indah here yesterday.

Rodziah said the programme held in collaboration with the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) and Koperasi Warga Hijrah Selangor Berhad would be expanded to four more apartments.

“We have approved it and the areas selected are Sepang, Semenyih, Hulu Klang and Taman Medan. This is a move to help the residents in their spending,” she said.

During the programme, Rodziah also distributed 50 food baskets to the needy residents and joined the breaking fast ceremony with the community.
