AMPANG, April 30 — Selangor government aims for 100,000 consumers to benefit from its Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme that started in February until Monday next week.

State executive councillor for agro-based industry Izham Hashim said since its launching the initiative has received encouraging responses from locals at each location that was visited.

“Hopefully, this effort brings benefit to the people, especially during the Aidilfitri celebration. The sales are done to help ease their spending burden,” he said after visiting the sale programme held at Dewan Serbaguna Jalan H, Kampung Pandan here, today.

Izham said Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) has opened four sales locations at Jalan Pandan 8, Pandan Jaya; Padang Awam Batu Caves, Gombak; Shah Alam Stadium and Sabak Bernam Stadium, today.

“The Selangor Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) has also organised a similar programme at 20 locations for today and tomorrow, through the Selangor Agro Market and farmers’ market (pasar tani), starting from 7am to 12 noon,” he said.

The Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme was launched on February 28 this year, and for Aidilfitri, the Selangor government has organised a mega sale involving 29 locations from April 25 to May 2.

This week-long Aidilfitri mega sale offers 23,200 fresh chicken, 23,200 kilogrammes (kg) of solid meat, beef bones (16,700 kg), grade B chicken eggs (18,200 cartons), and packet cooking oil (25,200 kg) as well as 1,500kg of selayang and kembung fish (QFish).
