Thousands of asnaf, poor in Gombak provided aid by MBI for Aidilfitri

GOMBAK, April 29 — Up to 2,000 tithe recipients (asnaf) and hardcore poor in the Gombak parliamentary area received cash aid from Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Menteri Besar’s regional political secretary Rahim Ahmad Kasdi said the contribution involves residents of the Sungai Tua, Hulu Kelang and Gombak Setia state constituencies.

He added that the aid from MBI is an initiative to lighten the burden of recipients in preparing for Aidilfitri.

“The aid is provided to residents who have been identified as facing difficulties. We want the recipients to be able to enjoy the merriment of celebrating Raya.

“May the contribution complete their festive period and they can celebrate it with joy,” Rahim said at Dewan Beringin in Sri Gombak earlier today.

Also in attendance was MBI corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

Rahim, who is also the Gombak Setia state constituency coordinator, said the contributions were distributed in stages before the first of Syawal.

“This morning involved 500 recipients. This evening another programme will also be hend and continue tomorrow until it is concluded,” he said.

For the month of Ramadan this year MBI has allocated RM3 million to realise the Ihya’ Ramadan programme including contributions for mosque and surau activities.

The company also distributed 1,000 food packs every day at select locations.
