SHAH ALAM, May 27 — The Ehsan Intervention Programme which was launched in February to reduce the people’s living costs has recorded over RM3.7 million in sales value.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said of this number, nearly RM3 million was earned through the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme held in 56 state constituencies.

He added throughout the Jualan Prihatin Mega in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri which ran for three days, its accumulated sales amount to RM763,000.

Jualan Prihatian Mega is coordinated by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS)

“Starting in February, chicken, beef, fish, cooking oil packets, eggs and quality vegetables have been sold more affordably than market prices since Aidilfitri.

“The programme does not only lighten the burden of the people but also adds to their festive cheer during Aidilfitri celebrations recently. With strong determination the state government is dedicated to ensure the best for the people of Selangor,” Amirudin said in a Facebook post earlier today.

Through the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat initiative, standard chickens are sold at RM12 a piece, fresh beef at RM35 per kg, grade B eggs at RM10 per board, as well as mackerel and selayang for RM8 per packet.

In addition, the state government will organise an affordable chicken sale programme starting on June 1 until Hari Raya Aidiladha (in July) as a short-term measure to resolve the ongoing shortage of chickens nationwide.

State executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said the chickens will be sold at a much lower price compared to the market, adding that he hopes it will help consumers faced with the issue of increasing living costs.
