Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei said the programme, which ran from 8am until 12pm, received overwhelming responses with all quotas fully taken up an hour before it ended.

She said 10 types of health checks were provided including for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, mass body index, bioelectric impedance analysis, nutritional advice, eyes, ears, hearing and back bone.

“The medical personnel and volunteers did their best to complete all checks by 1pm. We apologise to residents for declining further applications once the quotas were filled up.

The programme was carried out in collaboration with Zon Eight council members, Touch Community, SS2 South Residents’ Association, Assunta Hospital, KPJ Eye Specialist Centre as well as MBA Chiropractic and Soundlife.

Aparts from health checks, the assemblyman said her community service centre also helps participants register for the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) and Peduli Sihat.

Lim added the voting check was also carried out to make it easier for participants to know their own constituency and Parliament.

“This aims to increase awareness that the voting age limit has been lowered to 18 years old and that voter registration is done automatically,” she said.
