KDEBWM provides solid waste bins for flood victims in Hulu Selangor

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, May 18 — KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) has provided Roll-on-Roll-Off (RoRo) bins to ease the collection of post-flood garbage and waste in Hulu Selangor.

KDEBWM Media and Public Relation head Mahfuzah Muhammad Tarmidi said three bins were placed in Kampung Jawa while one bin each was sent to Kampung Air Panas, Kampung Pasir and Stadium Mini Kuala Kubu Bharu.

“Following the flash flood in several areas in Hulu Selangor, KDEBWM has mobilised its assets and personnel to the inundated areas.

“The post-flood cleaning works in the areas are being carried out intensively with approximately 12 tonnes of waste collected as of 1pm yesterday,” she said in a statement.

Mahfuzah said the operation is expected to run for three days because there are residents who still need more time to clear their bulk waste.

“KDEBWM, together with the state government and local councils remain committed to helping the post-flood cleaning work in the affected areas,” she said.

Heavy rain which lasted over three hours in several districts in Selangor on May 16 has caused flash floods in the area.

The affected areas include Kerling, Kampung Kelapa, Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia in Kampung Kubu Bharu as well as Taman Serendah Makmur housing area
