KDEBWM to open 12 material recycling facilities in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, May 23 — KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) aims to set up a total of 12 material recycling facilities (MRF) in the next 18 months to increase the operating rate of recycling activities in the state.

Its managing director, Ramli Mohd Tahir said five MRFs would be opened by end of this year, one each in Sepang and Kajang as well as three more in Hulu Selangor.

So far, he said, KDEBWM had developed two MRFs, namely at Meru in Klang and Bukit Puchong in Subang Jaya.

“We have discussed with the landowners, as there is land owned by the council (local authority) and also individuals, and negotiated on the rental price. If agreed, we will form a development plan and build the facility,” he said at the KDEBWM Aidilfitri open house here today.

On another matter, Ramli said the collection of domestic waste during Syawal this time increased by 30 per cent of the total daily collection following the holding of open houses.
