PETALING JAYA, May 9 — The van e-hailing service via the Kumpool Ride app has expanded its services to the Kampung Tunku constituency starting Wednesday.

Its state representative Lim Yi Wei said 59 routes are provided for the service, including destinations to the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) stations, mosques, houses of worship, restaurants and schools.

“Among the routes that would benefit the people is the 99 Speedmart at Jalan 22/49 in Section 22 because the previous RapidKL bus service was terminated due to insufficient drivers.

“I hope the chosen routes, especially within the commercial area, could boost the local economy and draw more customers to the area,” she said when met after the launch of Kumpool service in Kampung Tunku constituency at Station 8 Restaurant, here today.

Lim added that a total of 10,000 first trips for the service will be provided for free until July 11.

“We will issue an infographic on the matter so that the residents, especially the senior citizens, could get to know of the service provided for them.

“Apart from that, we would also put up a banner, use our social media platforms and communicate with the resident associations on Whatsapp,” she said.

Kumpool Ride was introduced to disperse traffic congestion and parking woes at a rate of RM1 for easier, comfortable and safer transportation access every day from 8am to 8pm.

The service covers over 200 stops, including bus and LRT stations, and housing areas. The app can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google’s PlayStore.

Meanwhile, Lim said the Kampung Tunku constituency would not be hosting a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house to avoid the spread of Covid-19 within the community.

“Even though the country has shifted into the transition of endemic phase, we would not organise the open house. Covid-19 is out there and we should not take it lightly as the effect varies, depending on each individual.

“However, the donation and assistance programmes to mosques and orphanages would still be continued,” she told SelangorKini.
