SHAH ALAM, May 27 — The Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) and Koperasi Warga Hijrah Selangor Berhad (Kohijrah) will collaborate to continue the sale of chicken under the state’s Ehsan Food Prices Intervention Programme from June 1.
State executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said the sales method will be different from the Jualan Prihatin Rakyat programme and the locations will be announced soon.
“This effort is to ensure the supply of chicken to consumers is not interrupted apart from offering it at special prices to the people.
“Even though the implementation method this time will be different, it is still beneficial to consumers,” he told SelangorKini.
On May 24, Izham said the state government will recommence selling chicken under the Ehsan Food Prices Intervention Programme which took place from December last year until Syawal this year as a short-term solution to address the shortage of chicken supply.
The next programme will be held from June 1 until the Aidiladha festival this year and it is hoped that the selling of chicken at lower than the market price will be able to help consumers who are burdened with its escalating price.
Also, the supply of chickens will be increased from 4,000 chickens a day to 10,000 to cover the shortage of supply.
