Malaysia Cup ’95 champions to get Rumah Selangorku — Exco

SHAH ALAM, May 31 — Some 31 former players and squad officials of the Selangor team who won the Malaysia Cup in 1995 will get homes from the state government in the near future, said state executive councillor for housing and urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail.

She said the Rumah Selangorku Idaman/Harapan offer serves as a replacement for the land reward that was promised by the previous state government administration.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), the issue was brought to me and I raised it during the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN). Following that, I represented the state government during meetings with representatives as well as former players to discuss the settlement of claims.

“The state government together with the Selangor Housing and Real Estate Board have discussed the issue with all former football players and have offered Rumah Selangorku Idaman/Harapan as replacements, to which it has been agreed upon,” Rodziah told SelangorKini.

She added the locations of the homes have yet to be determined and will be discussed once again in the MMKN once all prospective recipients have consented to the offer.

Selangor won the Malaysia Cup for the 28th time on November 11, 1995, after a nine-year wait, having defeated Pahang 1 – 0 at the Shah Alam Stadium.

At the time, each player and team official had been promised approximately 0.4 hectares of land per person as a reward for winning the cup.
