SHAH ALAM, May 5 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has encouraged women who wish to augment their income to join higher-education institution courses.

“Single mothers and women who want to increase their income are invited to join the institute courses via the UPPS initiative, which covers midwifery, beauty, management and the care of elderly persons,” Amirudin said in a Facebook post.

In April state executive councillor for employee empowerment V Ganabatirau said UPPS is cooperating with several organisations for the courses, including Vandy Confinement Sdn Bhd, B Beaute Elegant Sdn Bhd, Senior Care Academy Sdn Bhd and Akademi J&W Sdn Bhd.

The tuition fees for the courses is RM24,000 which is fully borne by the sponsors while the registration fees are between RM2,500 to RM3,500 depending on the course.

Participants must follow the classes hybridly for two and a half years, before they are granted the relevant certificate.
