SHAH ALAM, May 10 — The Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house organised by the Morib state constituency is not only a festive celebration but also helps its residents’ economy.

Its state assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin said he will purchase homecooked meals and beverages produced by the locals which will be served at the event when it takes place on May 29.

“This move is to help boost the residents’ economy after being badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the foods purchased will include lemang, ketupat and rendang.

“This year we want to celebrate Aidilfitri together with the surrounding community after two years of being constrained by the Movement Control Order. We expect 2,000 guests will attend,” he said to SelangorKini.

The Selangor State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker said a lucky draw and singing performance will also be organised to further lighten the festive mood.

Meanwhile, Seri Setia state assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar said his constituency’s Aidilfitri celebrations will take place on May 15 at Mentari Business Park in PJS 8, Subang Jaya.

The event will see 10 food stalls operated by council members, Wanita Berdaya Selangor members, Penggerak Belia Selangor and leaders of the Indian community.

“The stalls will prepare Raya food and beautifully decorated, with three of the best stalls receiving prizes. The programme will run from 3pm to 5pm with an expected 2,000 guests to attend,” he said.

This year the state government has planned Aidilfitri open houses in each Selangor district to celebrate the people.
