Over 160,000 job opportunities offered to people of Selangor — MB

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, May 23 — A total of 163,645 job opportunities in various sectors have been offered to Selangor people in the first quarter of the year, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the unemployment rate had also declined to 2.9 per cent at the end of last year compared to 3.6 per cent in the third quarter of 2021.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the unemployment rate in Selangor is declining, in line with the state government’s effort in creating job opportunities for the Selangor people,” he said on Twitter today.

Amirudin said that creating employment opportunities in the manufacturing, agriculture and construction sectors was to ensure the state’s prosperity and the well-being of its people.

“Apart from employment opportunities, this effort will also improve the quality of life of the people and have a positive impact on the economy,” he said.

The state government’s effort to reduce the unemployment rate will be continued with the Selangor Mega Job Fair, which is scheduled to take place on June 11 and 12.

The programme will be held at the Shah Alam City Council Convention Centre, involving over 100 companies, offering 20,000 job opportunities in the services, manufacturing, electronics and management sectors.

Among the companies involved in the event are Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor, Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd, DHL Express, DRB Hicom Berhad, Giant Malaysia and Malaysian Banking Berhad.
