SUBANG JAYA, May 13 — The Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house went on merrily today with over 2,000 guests at the event.

Asides from the local authority’s personnel, the open house also saw former mayors, MPs, state assemblymen, council members, department and agency heads, and synergy partners join as well.

Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the tradition of Aidilfitri joy is in line with the country’s transition to the endemic phase while still adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP)

Alhamdulillah after two years of not being able to hold open houses due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Aidilfitri open house is back to bring festive cheer to all involved.

“An event such as this is the best venue to strengthen the bonds of fellowship between personnel, media friends and stakeholders under MBSJ’s jurisdiction,” he said.

The council set up 20 food and beverage stalls with a variety of dishes up for offer, including roast mutton, satay, roti john, nasi beriani ayam masak merah, ketupat and lemang.

Guests were also entertained with performances by MBSJ personnel, in addition to duit raya contributions and McDonald’s vouchers to the children of personnel.

Johary added the guests who attended brought their own food and beverage containers as no plastic or polystyrene cutlery was used while the resultant waste was separated into prepared containers.

“This effort to ensure environmental sustainability is maintained in the effort to create a greener cityscape with better quality, as well as being in support of the MBSJ Green City Plan 2030,” he said.
