Selangor’s Dubai Expo 2020 potential investment value target exceeds expectations at nearly RM1 bln

SHAH ALAM, May 20 — The state government’s delegation managed to record a potential investment value of RM960.7 million, surpassing its initial target of RM500 million during the Selangor Week at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Selangor Week which ran from March 6 until March 12 also recorded 158 business matchings and 92 potential business collaborations involving large and important sectors.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said Invest Selangor was appointed as the coordinator of Selangor Week, joined by 16 other related agencies which were tasked to explore economic opportunities in the United Arab Emirates, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as European countries.

“Throughout Selangor Week’s promotion, we received a lot of feedback from businessmen and international investors who expressed their interest in Selangor.

“This achievement shows the investors and entrepreneurs’ confidence in the administration and the state government,” he said in a Facebook post today.

On March 18, state executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the Selangor Week at Expo 2020 Dubai succeeded in attracting the attention of businessmen and international investors who met with delegation members to express interest in expanding their investments and businesses in the state.

The sectors include warehousing, management consulting services, financial consulting services, communications and multimedia, transportation, logistics and mobility, education, oil and gas, property management, entrepreneurship, human resources management, agriculture technology, telecommunications and health.

Teng said Selangor Week also recorded 68,518 visitors to the Malaysia Pavilion, the highest number so far.
