SHAH ALAM, May 18 — Selangor state assemblymen have reacted positively to the state government’s move to introduce the Selangor Saring health screening programme, and are ready to ensure their constituents receive clear information on how to participate.
Sekinchan state assemblyman Ng Suee Lim said he will ask village and community heads in his constituency to publicly disseminate information on the programme to residents, in addition to announcements made through WhatsApp.
“We are aware there are some residents in the area who do not wish to register online, so they will be asked to come to the service centre to do so,” he said.
Seri Setia state assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar said he is targeting residents in Desa Mentari and Lembah Subang for the programme, as many of them are in the B40 category.
“These two areas have dense populations and will be suitable for the programme. The Residents’ Representative Councils (MPP) will be given a role in disseminating the programme and helping the target groups to register,” he said.
Similarly, Sungai Ramal state assemblyman Mazwan Johar said they will compile data on the less-fortunate residents who have applied for aid at his service centre, so as to make it easier to trace the target groups.
“We have over 8,000 names but not all will be selected, we will choose those who truly qualify for registration.
“We will also ask village heads to help disseminate the programme to residents in their respective areas,” he said.
“Selain kita juga akan minta ketua kampung bantu menguar-uar kepada penduduk di kawasan masing-masing,” kata Mazwan Johar.
The state government has allocated RM3.4 million to implement Saring Selangor. Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme is expected to benefit up to 39,000 residents in the state, especially high-risk groups including those with hereditary illnesses, overweight individuals and individuals with unhealthy lifestyles.
