SHAH ALAM, May 4 — Selangor state assemblymen will organise Hari Raya Aidilfitri open houses for the Muslim residents of their constituencies.

Seri Setia state assemblyman Halimey Abu Bakar said the event is expected to be held on May 15 with suggestions for the venue including Desa Mentari and Kampung Lindungan.

He added seven councillors in the Seri Setia area will also cooperate to prepare food for the visitors on the day.

“After two years of no open houses, the programme will give us a chance to meet, ask forgiveness and strengthen once again the bonds of fellowship with the helpful residents of Seri Setia.

“At the same time the businesses of small traders can be increased as they will be invited to open their stalls on the day of the open house, which will allow them to promote their cooking and products to the public,” Halimey said to SelangorKini.

For Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Elizabeth Wong, the open house for her constituency will be held on the same day at Dewan Damansara Damai with a target of 1,000 to 2,000 visitors.

She said each visitor can expect a variety of food and drink prepared by the residents in each apartment block near the hall, who have been provided with the prepared allocation to do so.

“This is the first time we can hold a Hari Raya gathering with the residents. Indeed Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is expected to attend as an invited guest.

“Hopefully the evening of the open house will be a merry and cheerful one for us all,” Wong said.
