By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, May 5 — The Sultan of Selangor and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor have offered their condolences to the family of the late Datuk Douglas Kim Kiu Lee, who passed away on Sunday (May 1)

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin also expressed their sadness at the passing of the eldest son of former Finance and Transport Minister Tun H.S. Lee aged 98.

In a Facebook post, the Selangor Royal Office said Kim was granted the title of Dato’ Diraja Selangor Dato’ Jaya Kesuma by Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in 1975, for his services in politics and business.

Kim was born in December 1923 and was formerly a director of the International Association of Lions Club.

He was also the former MP for Salak and became MCA’s youngest candidate when he contested in the then-Kuala Lumpur City Council elections in 1952.

Kim’s wife was the Malaysian Red Crescent Society’s former secretary-general Datin Paduka Ruby Lee, who passed away in 2009. She was similarly granted the title of Darjah Kebesaran Dato’ Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah in 1985.
