SHAH ALAM, May 10 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) has added three more rescue boats to be used by its Special Action Squad (Pantas) in preparation for any disaster at hand.
In a Facebook post, the local authority said the boats include two fiber boat units, one aluminium boat unit as well as an engine for the use of Pantas.
“The addition of these assets will help MPKS Pantas members in mobilising early aid in the event of any emergency or disaster,” it said.
MPKS added that with the additional assets, each Pantas member can also conduct rescue operations in housing areas easily.
“All these boats are light and make it easier for personnel to conduct rescue operations in interior areas, be it in the villages or housing areas,” it said.
Earlier on, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari encouraged all local authorities to purchase assets include boats or rescue tools as preparation for disasters.
He said the move will also ensure the relevant agencies can act quickly in critical situations especially floods.
Following this, the Subang Jaya City Council and Petaling Jaya City Council also added more rescue boats to their assets.
