SHAH ALAM, May 1 — Water supply to 463 areas hit by an unscheduled water cut yesterday is expected to be fully restored at 3pm today, says Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).

Its Corporate Communication head Elina Baseri in a statement said that as of 6am today, the water restoration has reached 48 per cent of the affected areas.

The percentage of water supply recovery status in the affected regions is at 97 per cent in Sepang, followed by Kuala Langat (70 per cent), Putrajaya (57 per cent), and Hulu Langat (15 per cent), while water supply in the Petaling district has yet to be restored.

“Water supply is expected to fully recover at 3pm.

“The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance of consumers’ premises and the water pressure at the distribution system.

“Alternative assistance through water tankers will continue to be mobilised to consumers, with priority given to critical premises. Air Selangor is making all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption on the affected consumers,” the statement read.

Elina said that the agency would also like to advise consumers who have and will be receiving water supply to let water from the tap flow until it is clear before daily use.

Updates are available through all mediums and consumers are urged to refer to Air Selangor’s official communication channels such as the Air Selangor application, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or call the Air Selangor Contact Centre at 15300.

Inquiries and complaints can also be submitted at the Help Centre via www.airselangor.com and the Air Selangor application.

Yesterday, a forced shutdown of the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant (WTP) resulted in unscheduled water supply disruptions for 463 areas in five regions.

The WTP had to temporarily cease its operations at noon following the detection of diesel odour pollution at the Sungai Semenyih (Jenderam Hilir) WTP inlet.
