11 schools in Taman Templer need renovations, new facilities

By Zareef Muzammil

SELAYANG, June 22 — A total of 11 schools around the Taman Templer state constituency have been identified to be in need of new basic facilities and infrastructure repairs.

Its assemblyman Mohd Sany Hamzan said an application would be submitted to the state government and the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI to seek assistance for the six Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) and five Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK).

“For example, SMK Rawang Semekar, SMK Darul Ehsan and SMK Selayang Baru are in need of repair to their infrastructure as well other facilities such as (new) computers and printers for the convenience of its students and teachers.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), this year the state government has enabled government-aided schools to make an application. Insya-Allah (God willing) we will bring it (the application) to the relevant parties,” he said here yesterday.

He said this at the handing over of five units of laptops for the use of SMK Ideal Height access centre by MBI corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

Commenting further, Mohd Sany said the state government cares about the education of Selangor children even though the responsibility should be borne by the Federal government.

“Even today, missionary schools, Chinese primary schools and Tamil schools continue to be assisted, proving that the state government treated all schools fairly (tidak memilih ‘bulu’) despite knowing that education is the responsibility of the central government. So this benefits schools in Selangor.

“Besides that, other programmes were also introduced such as university entrance incentives and offers to further studies at educational institutions owned by the state government such as Universiti Selangor (Unisel), Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (Kuis) and Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC),” he said.
