Frank Swettenham’s translated book is bestseller at KL book fair

SHAH ALAM, June 10 — The book ‘Gelagat dan Ragam Orang Melayu’ which was translated by Inisiatif Buku Darul Ehsan (IBDE) became its bestseller from the second to the seventh day of the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF).

The book, originally translated into Malay from the writings of Frank Swettenham titled ‘Malay Sketches’, attracted the attention of visitors who wanted to own it to get an idea of ​​the views of the British colonial officer.

In a Facebook post, IBDE said the sale of the book at the fair has surpassed the other eight translated books that it also published and sold at the book fair.

The translated books titles include ‘Muhammad: Riwayat Hidup Berdasarkan Sumber Tawal (normal edition), ‘Abu Bakr as-Siddiq’, ‘Muhammad: Riwayat Hidup Berdasarkan Sumber Terawal (special edition)’ and Jose Rizal.

Other titles are ‘Salahuddin al-Ayubi’, ‘Ilmu Kalam’, ‘Diari Seorang Gadis’ and ‘Penyelamat daripada Kesesatan’.

KLIBF 2022 which opened on June 3 will end this Sunday after a two-year delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and is expected to attract up to one million visitors during the 10-day event.
