KUALA LANGAT, June 27 — The Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow has provided an opportunity to its visitors, particularly youths, to further understand the role of state government agencies that they were not initially aware of.

Syah Hasbi Shahrin, 19, said the variety of agencies gathered in the programme spurred his interest in attending it at Dataran Pantai Morib on Sunday (June 26) seeing as it was not held elsewhere.

“I saw the presence of Team Selangor and of the local authorities. Before this I did not know about these agencies, so with this roadshow, I can understand their true functions.

“Before this, at any public programmes I did not come across any explainers on such agencies, only here did I learn more about them,” said the Banting Matriculation College graduate.

Meanwhile, C Thilakavathy, 35, said she came to the roadshow to check on the status of his Rumah Selangorku application, which was sent in three months ago.

“I already sent in my application, but have yet to receive a response until now. Coincidentally the programme features Rumah Selangorku so I attended to directly meet with its officers to know my status.

“After being informed of my status, things became much clearer to me and at least now I can take further action,” said the Banting Baru resident.

Another visitor, Muhammad Farhan Kasmuri, 31, said he is attending Jelajah Selangor Penyayang to understand the incentives offered by the state government to the people, particularly for traders like him.

“It seems the state government via Yayasan Hijrah Selangor has prepared many loan schemes for traders. Perhaps I can apply for one later as I seek to expand my business.

“Honestly after going into business I have been using my own capital to market agricultural products at the pasar malam. Through this programme, I have a clearer understanding of the benefits offered to the people,” he said.

The roadshow was launched on June 19 at Taman Kosas Ampang, after which it was continued in Morib yesterday from 7.30am to 5.30pm.

It will go on at Stadium Utama Kuala Selangor this Saturday, before heading to Dataran Boulevard in Laman Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya on July 16 and at Padang Awam Batu Caves in Gombak on July 31.

Involving the state government’s subsidiary companies, Jelajah Selangor Penyayang prepares a variety of events including performances by artists, aerobics, cooking competitions, flower arrangement, people’s sports, skateboarding, and e-sports.
