KDEBWM to open another three recycling centres this year

SHAH ALAM, June 17 — The KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) will open another three Material Recovery Facility (MRF) this year.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the new facilities will be located in Sepang, Ampang and Hulu Selangor.

“So far, the Sepang area has received full approval, while Ampang and Hulu Selangor are still under discussion and are expected to be completed in the near future.

“This will bring up the total number of recycling centres (operated by KDEBWM) in the state to five including the existing facilities at Meru in Klang and Bukit Puchong in Subang Jaya,” he told Selangorkini.

He added that to increase public awareness of the importance of recycling, they will expand their educational programme with the cooperation of various parties throughout the year.

“Our focus is to raise awareness among the people of the benefits of recycling to the environment.

“We also planned for each local authority (PBT) to have its own recycling centre to cater to the respective community,” he said.

On November 26 last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari during the 2022 Selangor Budget said the MRF initiative would be expanded to each district in the state to help reduce the recyclable waste.
