Maha 2022 hoping to grab more attention as hybrid event

SERDANG, June 9 — The 2022 Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (Maha 2022) will be held as a hybrid event, enabling visitors to tour it virtually, join webinars and a business matching programme.

The theme of this year’s event scheduled to be held at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from August 4 to August 14 is ‘Food Security for the Future’.

Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee said at the pre-launch of Maha 2022 today that the agro-food sector is facing many challenges globally and domestically, such as agricultural productivity and innovation, farm input costs, climate change and technology adaption.

“We must work together to overcome the challenges to help the national food system withstand a crisis now and in the future,” he said.

The last time this biennial event was held was in 2018 before the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

Ronald said Maha could serve as a platform for agriculture to become a large contributor to economic growth via business matching sessions, showcase of technology and innovation, and attracting the younger generation.

He said the 11-day event is expected to generate over RM250 million in sales and draw 1.1 million visitors (or 100,000 daily) wanting to explore it in person.

Maha 2022 will have participation from the private sector, government agencies, financial institutions, agropreneurs and more.

The focus will be agro trade, agro youth, agrotechnology and promotion of agricultural produce.

It will have 1,500 booths and an agrobazaar where you will be able to find fresh vegetables and seafood, plants and much more.
