Mais launches wasiat, hibah system

SHAH ALAM, June 2 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) yesterday launches the Wasiat (will) and Hibah (gift) System (SISWA) to facilitate the management of both services online in Selangor.

Mais chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said that Mais, as the management body for Baitulmal, was always committed to giving the best service and becoming the main reference in managing the property of Muslims.

“Mais has upgraded the existing system, e-Wasiat, to a new system which is smarter through the combination of two elements of property division planning, namely, wasiat and hibah.

“Through this system, applications and approvals will be fully managed online, apart from offering the use of Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC), which is recognised by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

“In addition, SISWA also uses digital signatures which are subject to the Digital Signature Act 1997, and the applicant’s transaction confirmation is done via One-Time Password (OTP),” he said when met by reporters after launching the system here yesterday.

Abdul Aziz said that to date, 3,196 applications for wasiat and hibah had been received, and Mais targeted that 6,000 people would register with SISWA.

“We hope that the system will give a new facility to Muslims in an effort to help in a more systematic property division, and simultaneously avoid property issues among next-of-kin,” he said.

The implementation of the innovation could be made via https://siswa.Mais.gov.my.

Further information on wasiat, hibah and inheritances can be obtained via the official website of Mais at www.Mais.gov.my or by contacting 03-5514 3773/3772.
