SUBANG JAYA, June 21 — A total of 16 developers and landowners have been charged in court since January for failing to comply with the Subang Jaya Local Plan 2035 (RTSJ2035), involving a total fine of RM79,000.

Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) mayor Dato ‘Johary Anuar said ten of the cases involved iron processing industries operating on residential lot land, and parking heavy trucks and commodities in residential areas.

The rest, he said, included unpermitted mother and child care centres, animal breeding facilities in residential neighbourhoods, and furniture manufacturers operating on residential properties.

“All offenders will be charged under Section 27 (2) (a) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1976 (Act 172), which carries a maximum penalty of RM100,000 or a jail term not exceeding six months, or both,” he said at the MBSJ headquarters, here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Johary said that aggressive prosecution of illegal factories would continue to ensure that the issue of law violations could be resolved for the betterment of the public.

“We take unlawful development operations, particularly illegal factories set up in residential areas, very seriously since they can jeopardise people’s safety and health, as well as the environment.

“Therefore, all developers and landowners who allow illegal factories to operate are advised to follow the rules and regulations and cease the prohibited actions immediately,” he added.
