KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 — Up to RM30,000 in cash prizes await nine winners of the mobile photography competition jointly organised by the state government with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCCI).

State executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian said the competition is open to all Malaysian citizens starting from today until September 30, where the winners will receive cash prizes as well as tour packages.

“This competition is simple, just take a photo of an interesting location in Selangor and then upload it on Facebook with the hashtag #klscciphoto and make sure the picture is made public.

“Up to 10 photos can be uploaded and the jury will assess the photos. The winners will be notified via Facebook Messenger and announced on KLSCCI’s Facebook page,” he said.

Hee was speaking at the launch of the competition at Wisma Chinese Chamber, in Jalan Ampang earlier today.

The competition’s rules include the stipulation that photos must be taken using a smartphone and uploaded photos have to be originals without any edits. More information can be found on KLSCCI’s Facebook page.

The councillor said photos play an important role in helping Selangor promote tourism spots, which is a primary reason for the organisation of the competition.

“KLSCCCI received a RM20,000 grant from Tourism Selangor to promote tourism in the state, and this competition is one promotional method.

“The photos taken by the public and uploaded on Facebook will indirectly attract more tourists to visit interesting locations in Selangor,” he said.
