MPAJ issues 62 notices on illegal flat add-ons in Ampang

SHAH ALAM, June 28 — Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has issued 62 notices to owners at Flat PKNS AU3, Ampang Jaya, in Hulu Kelang, who renovated and built additional structures at their units without permission.

MPAJ public relations officer Norhayati Ahmad said the notice under Section 72(1) of the Road, Drainage and Building Act (Act 133) was issued by its Building and Architecture and Enforcement Department officers who surveyed the area on June 1.

She explained the renovation and building of additional structures violated the joint ownership condition with the Joint Management Body (JMB) as well as the condition of the state land.

“The notice was a follow-up to the council’s demolition of an illegal extension of a unit under construction in Block 4 of the same flat on May 25.

“Among the illegal extensions found were permanent walls, awnings, gates and porches built on government land,” she said in a statement.

She said all the units need to remove all illegal extensions at their premises within the stipulated period at their own cost before further action is taken.

“MPAJ would like to remind that renovating existing structures or building additional ones on the side or back of any stratified developments like flats, apartments and condominiums is not allowed,” she reiterated.
