PETALING JAYA, June 9 — The PJ Eco Recycling Plaza gallery received over 1,000 visitors since its launch on May 29, said Petaling Jaya Deputy Mayor Sharipah Marhaini Syed Ali.

She said among those who visited the plaza that provides recycling items collection include several local authorities such as the Pengerang Municipal Council from Johor.

“Others who also visited include higher education institutions, private companies and NGOs. They were interested in viewing the PJ Eco Recycling Plaza model and concept which is wholly related to recycling,” Sharipah said at the officiation of the PJ Eco Recycling Plaza’s Open Day in conjunction with the World Environment Day 2022 on the PJ level.

She added that 187 used items were sold off at the eco-store space and several workshops.

“This is the success of the plaza and proves used items can be reorganised and made into a source of income,” Sharipah said.

The PJ Eco Recycling Plaza gallery has been in operation since 2019 and provides recycled items collection services, reusable waste equipment and workshop equipment.

The plaza is also equipped with learning facilities, food and organic waste treatment facilities as well as seminar and training rooms.
