PKNS assists over 41,000 entrepreneurs expand their business

SHAH ALAM, June 28 — More than 41,000 entrepreneurs have successfully expanded their businesses through various programmes organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

PKNS chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas said the entrepreneurs benefited from the empowerment initiative implemented by the state government’s subsidiary for the past 27 years.

“We have created many successful entrepreneurs. One of the businesses sells ’kuih tepung pelita’ dessert. The ‘kuih tepung pelita” was frozen and it received a great response.

“Indirectly, it increases the income of the local dessert entrepreneur,” he said during the pre-launch media conference for the Selangor Entrepreneur Expo 2022 (SELBIZ 2022) here yesterday.

Therefore, he hoped SELBIZ 2022 in September will be able to help more small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (SMEs) expand their business operations.

“This programme provides an opportunity for new entrepreneurs and small traders to introduce and promote their products as well as expand their market prospects to various sectors.

“The initiative also aims to instil entrepreneurial spirit among the youth by encouraging visits by secondary school and university students and would-be entrepreneurs,” he said.

SELBIZ 2022 will be held on September 3 and 4 to provide opportunities for start-up entrepreneurs and small traders to introduce and promote products to a wider audience.

The inaugural programme targets to record transactions of up to RM5 million during its two-day event from 10am to 10pm.
