Road to illegal dumpsite at Air Hitam lake closed — MPKj

SHAH ALAM, June 2 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has closed the entry road to a former quarry lake near Section 5 in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, which was used as an illegal dumpsite for garbage.

Citing a report from Sinar Harian, MPKj Public Relations officer Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman said enforcement officers had been deployed to the site for monitoring and that the owner of the private land is being identified to conduct rehabilitation works.

He said the illegal waste disposal activity in the area was detected in December last year. However, the condition had worsened in the past two months.

“A total of six lorries were seized within two months, and we will continue to monitor the area to stop the illegal waste disposal activity,” he said.

Previously, a Facebook user shared the current condition of Air Hitam lake in Bandar Mahkota, which had caused odour pollution in the area.

The locals had previously frequented the lake for recreational activities such as jogging, fishing, and picnicking.
