Selangor Aviation Show 2022 aims RM700 mln potential transaction value – Exco

PETALING JAYA, June 21 — The state government anticipates the second instalment of the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2022 to generate RM700 million in potential transaction value this year, up from RM100 million last year.

State executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim expressed optimism that the target could be met following the opening of the country’s borders, which would result in increased participation in the air show.

He said the SAS 2022, which will be held from September 8 to 10 at the Skypark Regional Aviation Centre (Skypark RAC Subang), also aims to attract at least 8,000 visitors and some 70 booths from local and international companies.

He said that the the tarmac sections within the Skypark RAC area would also showcase roughly 30 static displays of aircraft and helicopters, including luxury private planes.

“We anticipate participation from industry players from around the region, as most countries have reopened their borders.

“To accommodate more visitors for the exhibition, we have added an additional hangar, bringing the overall floor area to 28,000 square metres, compared to 17,000 square metres last year.

“With a larger exhibition area, we are hoping to attract more exhibitors to the air show,” said Teng a press conference after the official launch of the SAS 2022 at Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel, here today.

Also present during the launch were Selangor Deputy State Secretary (Development) and State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) director Dr Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid and Invest Selangor Bhd (Invest Selangor) chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.

Meanwhile, Hasan said business networking sessions, product presentation sessions, seminars, as well as training and career path sessions with aviation tertiary students are among the activities planned to guarantee that the event benefits all stakeholders.

“To maximise exhibitor participation, networking events will be held, which will feature a session with potential business aviation clients or charter flight passengers,” he said earlier in his speech during the launching event.

The SAS 2022 is organised by Invest Selangor through its dedicated aerospace division Selangor Darul Ehsan Aerospace Industry Coordination Office (S-Daico).

The 2022 Selangor Budget (#Selangor2022) tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has allocated RM5 million for the second installation of the aviation show.
