Selangor dominates singles challenge in Junior Elite Tour Championship 2022

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — The Selangor Under-16 (U-16) badminton squad got off to a splendid start when seven of its singles players advanced into the quarterfinals of the second round Junior Elite Tour (JET) Championship 2022 that started yesterday.

Selangor, in Group A, first confirmed the slot with three representatives of the U-16 men’s singles category advancing to the quarter-finals, involving Au Wei Shan who defeated Perak player Diong Xhe Ming in straight sets 21-18, 21-12.

Two other Selangor men’s singles players who also checked into the slot are Razeeq Danial Roslie who defeated Wan Abdul Latif Hakimi Wan Abdul Khalid (Kelantan) 23-12, 21-11 and Shawn Hiu who disposed of Fan Jing Xuan (Perak) 21-11 and 21-9.

Meanwhile, the women’s U-16 singles competition saw four players from Selangor confirming their slots in the quarterfinals, said a statement from the championship organiser.

Eng Ler Qi led the challenge after beating Ngui Jun Yi (Kuala Lumpur) 21-8, 21-6 followed by Shanraya Kabilan who defeated Ling An Siow (Kuala Lumpur).

Shan Lee Yu, as the third representative, also advanced when she won over Leong Jin Ee (Perak) 21-8, 22-20 followed by Chong Ker Yie, as the fourth representative, overcoming Jane Mah Chun En (Perak) 21-5, 21-6.
