HULU LANGAT, June 20 — Almost RM2 million was distributed to farmers in conjunction with the Selangor Penyayang roadshow programme.
State executive councillor for agriculture Izham Hashim said the plan included input support such as seeds, fertilisers, and machinery to help farmers produce high-quality crops.
“We began with 24 farmers in Hulu Langat, with a budget of around RM400,000. Aid has recently been continued in a number of other districts.
“The assistance involves farmers who operate in fruit, vegetable fields, and downstream industries,” he said after handing over the help at the roadshow in the Hulu Langat district, yesterday.
The Selangor Penyayang roadshow kicked off at Hulu Langat to promote various welfare measures for the people, with 23 state government subsidiaries taking part.
The initiative was made possible by an RM600 million allocation from the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang, which replaced the Peduli Rakyat Initiative to allow more people to make use of the state government’s benefits.
This includes Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas), which has taken over from Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor (KISS), assisting up to 30,000 families instead of the previous 25,000.
The Selangor Saring programme, which costs RM1.5 million and serves 5,000 people, particularly those at risk, was also set up.
The roadshow is also scheduled to be held in Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Gombak.
