Selangor to organise job fair for hotel, tourism industries — Exco

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, June 12 — In the third quarter of this year, a career fair dedicated to the tourism and hotel industries will be held, with the goal of filling 6,000 job openings in both sectors.

State executive councillor for youth, sports and human capital development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said he received many requests from the aforementioned industries, including budget hotels, who were facing underemployment.

“The request came from all hotel owners in Selangor. They don’t have enough workers after the Covid-19 pandemic forced a halt in the sector.

“I’ve asked the officers to study the program, and we’ll work with the state executive councillor for tourism to further boost the industry,” he said yesterday after attending the Selangor Mega Career Fair 2022 event.

The two-day programme, which ends today, is held at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA)  Convention Centre and offers over 20,000 job opportunities.

Over 100 companies took part in the event, including Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd (KPS), Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd, DHL Express, DRB Hicom Bhd, Giant Malaysia, and Malayan Banking Bhd.

Others include Media Prima Digital, Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn Bhd (Proton), Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, Shopee Malaysia, Sport Direct MST Sdn Bhd, and Toyota Auto Body Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
