SHAH ALAM, June 24 — Seven districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy rains until 4pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
In a warning issued at 12.35pm on Facebook, the agency said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat dan Sepang.
MetMalaysia also forecasted similar weather patterns for other states and territories in Perak (Muallim) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol and Tampin).
“Other areas affected include Kedah (Langkawi), Pahang (Raub and Bentong), Kuala Lumpur, Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Kulai and Johor Bahru) and Sarawak (Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Mukah, Kapit and Limbang) will also see strong weather,” said MetMalaysia.
MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
