KLANG, June 14 — A special meeting will be held soon to discuss the issue involving a house in Taman Klang Jaya here that was allegedly damaged due to the renovation works done by a neighbour’s house.

Sentosa state assemblyman Dr G Gunaraj said the meeting between Klang Municipal Council (MPK) and the two homeowners seeks to find a solution to the problem that started in 2012.

He said the case was taken to court in 2019, but the decision was not in favour of the complainant so the family had to rent at a different location for about two years due to safety reasons.

“In 2018, MPK asked the owner of the house next door to repair the complainant’s house after receiving a complaint in 2016. MPK has also appointed a consultant to investigate the cause of the cracks but no action was taken.

“The Fire and Rescue Department had also deemed the house unsafe to occupy and even until now there are many problems with the house, especially in the living room and its rooms.

“Therefore, we will arrange a meeting between all parties, including the MPK to find a way to resolve this matter,” he said after inspecting the damages to the house with MPK Building Department representatives today.

Commenting further, Dr G Gunaraj said the issue will be brought to the attention of Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari if the issue is still unresolved after the meeting.

“I was informed that the house next door had carried out renovation work with the approval and permit from MPK and also won the civil claim in June 2020.

“I am taking the responsibility to help this matter and believe it can be resolved in an inclusive and harmonious manner,” he added.

Meanwhile, the homeowner, B Rakesh, 50, apologised if the viral video that he posted on social media had offended any parties as it was done because he was disappointed and felt as if no serious actions were taken on his complaints.

“If it is possible, I just wanted justice and for the house that I had lived in the past 30 years to return to normal, as this house is special as I had inherited it from my family,” he said.

On June 10, MPK had asked the owner of a terrace house who alleged that his neighbour’s renovations had structurally damaged his property to lodge a complaint with the relevant authorities if he suspects elements of corruption.

The individual was asked to make a report so that an investigation can be conducted on any staff that is suspected of doing so.
