State special needs children centre expand services to preschools

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, June 8 — The Selangor Educational Support Centre for Special Needs Children (Anis Centre) has expanded its services to offer preschool programmes for special needs children aged five to six.

The agency has started registration for the programme, which runs throughout the year and is made possible under the Iltizam Anak Istimewa Selangor initiative.

“The Anis Preschool programme provides opportunities and educational facilities for special needs students in line with their development.

“The programme aims to enable the children to enter mainstream schools or the inclusive programme by the Education Ministry (MOE),” said the agency on Facebook.

It said the programme is open to all special needs children born in Selangor for the learning disability category (Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay and Down Syndrome). Registration can be made at www.anisselangor.com/prasekolahanis.

Special needs children aged two to four years can register for the intervention programme at www.anisselangor.com/intervensianis.

For more information, contact the Anis Centre at 03-55453170.

On April 21, state executive councillor for public health, unity, women development and family Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said 692 special-needs children received help from the state government via a RM1.3 million allocation.

She said this year the state government will continue the Anis special assistance programme and Didik AnIS with a RM1.5 million allocation.
