PETALING JAYA, July 24 — Tourism Selangor hopes the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) that is scheduled to be tabled on July 27, would focus more on the tourism sector.
Its chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad said this is because the tourism industry was among the most affected economic sectors following the spread of Covid-19 worldwide.
“During the pandemic, we were affected by the drop in tourist arrival that disrupted the economic growth due to zero foreign currency exchange. Everything was affected.
“Hence I hope the RS-1 which will be tabled soon would be able to boost the tourism industry within the nine districts and 12 local councils in Selangor,” he said when met after the Tourism Selangor Golf Championship 2022 closing ceremony at Kota Damansara.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari informed that the RS-1 will be focusing on four main principles namely economic, social, sustainability and governance as part of the efforts to make Selangor a Smart State by 2025.
The clear framework of the plan will be announced on July 27 at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
