SHAH ALAM, July 12 — The state government will allocate RM5 every year to maintain and repair any damages to the Shah Alam Stadium on a continuous basis.

Sinar Harian reported Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari as saying the stadium’s damages have been around since the time of the BN administration and require considerable expenditure to rectify.

He said the problem is not a new one and should be resolved comprehensively, which includes taking into account the proposal to demolish the stadium.

“The allocation has never decreased, but the value of some buildings over 30 years of age that we should review.

“This is why we must conduct an accurate review. Only then can we know the building’s position and its associated problems,” Amirudin said.

On Sunday (July 9) Selangor Umno was reported as questioning the proposal to demolish the Shah Alam Stadium as part of cost-cutting measures, claiming it only required regular maintenance.

Earlier on, the Menteri Besar said he would explain in detail the proposal on the stadium’s latest developments.
