BALING, July 23 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) is prepared to return to Baling if needed for the aid mission.
Its president Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said that the local council is ready to deploy its staff if needed, according to the assistance needed.
“We will send the team as needed and in accordance with the scope of activities. We don’t want to deploy more people than necessary to complete the assigned tasks.
“For the second relief operation, we sent 10 members from the Skuad Pantas (Rapid Squad) as opposed to 18 on the first. We hope that the help supplied will lessen the burden of the people,” he said when met at the Selangor Penyayang Mission 2.0 in Baling, Kedah.
Meanwhile, Kuala Langat Municipal Council president Dato’ Amirul Azizan noted that although it takes some time to go from Banting to Baling, this does not prevent its members from providing aid to flood victims.
“We sent 14 members on this second mission along with a pickup truck and a one-ton lorry to help with the distribution of aid to the victims.
“We are also prepared in case the Selangor government provides additional aid to assist the people of Baling,” he added.
During the two days of the post-flood mission, the state’s volunteer team cleaned 72 flood victims’ homes in Baling, Kedah, as part of a relief effort on July 6.
Selangor Volunteers (Serve) and the Rapid Action Team (Pantas), which included representatives from 12 local authorities, carried out the cleaning works.
