MB conveys condolences to family of former corporate figure Mustapha Kamal

SHAH ALAM, July 25 — Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today expressed his condolences to the family of corporate figure Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal Abu Bakar, who passed away early this morning.

The late Mustapha Kamal was reported to have died of old age at 7.45am today at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

“My condolences go out to the late Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal’s family on the passing of their loved one this morning.

“May God grant him peace and that his spirit rests in a heavenly reward,” he said on Twitter today.

The founder of property developer Emkay Group died today at the age of 73.

Astro Awani reported that the chairman of Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd will be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery today.

A former “icon of affordable housing,” Mustapha founded Emkay in 1983 and was also a co-founder of MK Land Holdings Berhad.

Before getting to the position of deputy commissioner for the lands and minerals department, he began his career as a civil servant for the Selangor government.

Mustapha then entered the private sector, first serving as managing director of Shah Alam Properties Sdn Bhd before founding Emkay Group.
