MB praises PKNS’ 58 years of excellence

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, July 29 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has praised the excellent performance of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) throughout its 58 years of establishment.

He said the state government-owned company is in a class of its own compared to other corporations in the country.

“Throughout the Selangor region, even in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, there will definitely be an area or site that PKNS has developed to become one of the elements or assets that has brought progress to the state and the country.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), PKNS has spread its wings from an institution to develop communities and society, into a corporation that is involved in various sectors and businesses.

“From the energy industry, manufacturing to services, PKNS continues in its efforts on urban development and providing housing for the community,” he said during the PKNS Excellent Service Award for 2021 last night.

The event held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre was also attended by Selangor State Secretary Dato’ Haris Kasim and PKNS chief executive officer Dato’ Mahmud Abbas.

Amirudin wants PKNS to maintain its existing role in addition to improving its status and quality for the future despite facing various obstacles.

“To step from one site to another, there are challenges that will arise, and it needs to be overcome with a consolidated effort by the management and all its employees so that they can find new methods of development for the state and the country.

“I’m sure it will not be an easy task and will put a certain burden on PKNS, but the changes are necessary because otherwise, it will just become a point of history fit for display in a museum, as new ideas were never implemented to overcome it,” he added.

A total of 75 PKNS employees received the Excellent Service Award, bringing home RM1,000 in cash and a certificate of appreciation.

At the same time, PKNS also celebrated 24 retirees with a gold medallion, BSN Sijil Simpanan Premium, watches and a certificate of appreciation.

While 49 long-serving employees who had served for three decades received a medallion, BSN Sijil Simpanan Premium and a certificate of appreciation.

Mahmud said the awards were to recognise the contribution and dedication of the local council staff in performing their duties.
