GOMBAK, July 11 — The monetary aid from the state government to the flood victims in Baling, Kedah, will be given as soon as possible, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the process will be carried out once the cleaning works have been concluded, with the state government having decided on a specific amount for the victims.

“The state government has decided on a figure, we will finish up the cleaning works first and later on provide the aid to those involved,” Amirudin said when met at the Qurban Perdana programme at Sungai Tua earlier today.

On July 6, the Menteri Besar said Selangor is ready to consider providing fiscal aid to the residents in Baling, who were affected by the floods.

He said the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) would discuss the matter first. The meeting took place on that same day.

In August last year, the state government contributed RM100,000 to the Kedah state government to aid flood victims in Yan.

The contribution was personally presented by Amirudin to Kedah state executive councillor of human resources Brigadier Gen (Rtd) Datuk Najmi Ahmad, during the former’s visit to the flood locations. Selangor also donated basic necessities to the Yan flood victims.
