MB tables motion amending trust accounts to facilitate aid to people

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, July 25 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari tabled a motion to amend 12 trust accounts during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session earlier today, as part of the process to launch the delivery of aid to the public.

The accounts include affordable housing, assistance for the construction of mosques and Islamic institutions, economic stimuli packages, disaster funds and Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat programmes which were reorganised into Iltizam Selangor Penyayang.

He said the motion is to allow a certain amount of funds to be placed in a trust account, in accordance with Section 10 of the Financial Procedures Act 1957, to facilitate the implementation of programmes for the people.

Amirudin added the state government previously could not do so without amending the section, since a large portion of the financial resources were not consolidated money.

“The funds come from state subsidiaries, donations and private individuals so that they can help the state government at the time or in the future to implement the programmes contained under the 12 accounts,” he said.
