Preparation for Maha 2022 now 90 pct ready

SERDANG, July 23 — Preparation for the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro-tourism Exhibition (Maha) 2022 to be held at the Malaysian Agricultural Expo Park (Maeps), here, is now 90 per cent ready, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (Mafi) Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.

Speaking to reporters after the Road to Maha 2022 programme today, he said the final preparations were going smoothly following cooperation among the various agencies under Mafi and the relevant government agencies.

“We (Mafi) are confident that before Maha 2022 starts (on August 4), all preparations will be ready, with the planning and promotional activities all in order,” he said.

Maha 2022 will be held in a hybrid manner from August 4 to 14 at Maeps, with the theme ‘Food Security for the Future’.

The 11-day programme is targeted to attract 1.1 million visitors and generate more than RM250 million in sales value.

The biannual event was last held in 2018 before being it was interrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ronald said Maha 2022 is targeting the participation of private companies, government agencies, financial institutions, agricultural entrepreneurs and the youth groups to fill the 1,500 booths at the exhibition site.

Maha 2022 will also be a platform for the introduction of various new products related to agriculture, including the latest technology and innovation , especially in food security, as well as for effective marketing and production strategies, he added.
