SAR activated for missing 18-month-old girl in Beaufort

KOTA KINABALU, July 9 — The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has activated a search and rescue (SAR) operation for an 18-month-old girl who is believed to have wandered into the woods and fallen into a river near Kampung Batu 66 in Beaufort, this morning.

In a statement today, Sabah JPBM said the department was alerted of the incident at at 11.19 am.

“During the incident, the victim’s parents were trading at Tamu Beaufort and the toddler was taken care of by her grandmother.

“The SAR operation is carried out along the river bank within a radius of two kilometres from the control post,” according to the statement.

The girl was last seen wearing a white top and dark blue pants.
