KUALA SELANGOR, July 3 — The state government has channelled RM1.3 million in incentives for crop development, fertigation technology and downstream agriculture (IAT) projects in the district.
State executive councillor of agricultural modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim said the allocation was channelled to six individuals, representing 1,613 farmers and entrepreneurs, according to their respective groups.
“The value of the incentives varies by group. The allocation for fertigation crops may be over RM20,000 as it requires modern equipment for irrigation.
“So we called on six of those involved in fruit, vegetable, paddy, fertigation, coconut and processed food planting projects to receive the incentives,” he said.
Izham was speaking to the media after handing over the mock cheque of the incentives, in conjunction with the Jelajah Selangor Penyayang roadshow at Stadium Tertutup Kuala Selangor here yesterday.
Meanwhile, he said the distribution of incentives will remain a continuous process, so as to empower those involved and improve the quality of their respective enterprises.
“We must empower these farmers and entrepreneurs so they can produce many quality products,” he said.
